Family Chef Brand Products from Family Dollar Stores SUCK.

Don't Waste Your Money On Cheap, Poorly Manufactured Products by Family Chef Brand From Family Dollar That Are Harmful To Your Health.

As several of you know, I recently moved into a new apartment.  I had no cookware when I moved in, so visited Family Dollar, a so called discount store that carries mostly crap from China, as well as junk food and beverages, etc.. and purchased the Family Chef 7 Piece Cookware Set, which claims to be "made of high quality steel" as well as "non stick"... both of which are outright FALSE.   In addition to this, I also purchased the Family Chef 16 Piece Utensils Set in a rotating caddy.   Both of these products SUCK.  They're cheap for a reason, and that is because they're of poor quality and will be COMPLETELY USELESS after only a couple of uses.    Consider them akin to any disposable one time use product, because in my opinion, that's exactly what they are, AND they're HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH.

Family Chef 7 Piece Cookware by Family Dollar
Let's start with the cookware.   First off, high quality STEEL does not buckle up & warp when heated on a FREAKING STOVE.   On my very first use, the largest of the pots in this set, while boiling water, buckled...(not sure if this is the correct term to use) & warped... all of a sudden, I heard a loud "PLINK", and the pan bounced up a little bit, and on the bottom there is a large dent, as if someone had turned it upside down and banged it with a hammer.   This is not high quality steel, but what I would call cheap, poor quality TIN.

Now let's move on to "non stick".. Well, I'm sorry, but in my opinion, that's a LOAD OF HORSESHIT, because this too on my first use turned out to be a problem, because not only did my goddamn eggs STICK to the damn pan, but it was a real sonofabitch to clean.   Thereafter, over the course of a few days, the pans SMELLED AWFUL when cooking.. This odor was due to HIGHLY TOXIC FUMES being generated by the degradation of the non stick coating, and not only this, but tiny particles were also found in food prepared with these pieces of shit.  The fumes are hazardous to your health, and my assumption is that ingestion of these particles is bad for you as well.   AVOID THIS BRAND of pots and pans if you value your health if not your wallet.

On this same visit to Family Dollar Ripoff Stores, I also picked up the Family Chef 16 Piece Utensil Set, another cheap ass product that sucks, because the spatula, on the very first use, at the same time my fucking eggs stuck to the so called non stick pan, melted, making it necessary to throw the eggs in the trash due to the melted plastic mixed in with them...  What kind of spatula melts turning over a stuck egg in a non stick pan, cooked on low heat from an electric stove?  Certainly this one...  needless to say, the others melted as well... a spoon in boiling water, the remainder inside the dishwasher.. when they come out of the dishwasher, they were miniscule in comparison to their original size, discolored, and severely disfigured.

I'm very disappointed.  I'm broke as it is and hate wasting money like this, because now, not only am I out of the cash I spent on this CRAP, I also need pots and pans to cook with, as well as utensils, and am freaking broke for another two weeks.   SCREW YOU FAMILY DOLLAR!   More importantly, what about my daughter and I's health?  Just how many of those non stick coating particles have we eaten before I noticed it, and how much of the toxic fumes did we breath in.  Reading online, it is said that these fumes are highly carcinogenic and are linked to causing cancer... WTF Family Dollar... would you like a lawsuit?

Paula Dorf Special Camouflage

Paula Dorf Special Camouflage

Paula Dorf Special Camouflage As a transgender woman, one of the biggest battles I face is facial hair follicle shadow that remains after shaving. Until I can afford and complete electrolysis hair removal, I'm stuck with shaving and having this bluish silvery tint due to hairs beneath the skin's surface inside the follicles. Although one can completely shave off all their facial hair, there still remains a bluish/grayish tint which still shows through most foundations and concealers, therefore a beard cover up is necessary prior to applying makeup, however, Paula Dorf Special Camouflage is not a beard coverup, but a special color corrector duo which consists of two tones, one yellowish to color correct reddish skin, and the other, peach in color, is a blue neutralizer. After countless fruitless efforts at attempting to hide my facial hair shadows bluish tint with various concealers, camouflages and foundations, I decided to visit a local cosmetics store and ask them what to do about my unique situation, and that's when I learned about Paula Dorf Special Camouflage and its ability to neutralize the bluish tones into my own natural skin tone. This product does not simply cover and hide the bluish tint, it neutralizes the color and the product completely blends into a natural skin tone which can then be easily covered and blended with any foundation of my choice, completely getting rid of any facial hair shadow. Although this product was not specifically made for covering up beard areas and facial hair shadows, it does work very well for this purpose and I highly recommend it.

Many women use Paula Dorf Special Camouflage to neutralize the bluish tints under their eyes, such as dark circles and it even works on getting rid of unsightly blue veins too. This light weight and non greasy makeup is simply stippled onto your face using a brush, and is easily blended in. You can apply it on before your foundation, or after and it only takes a very small amount to neutralize the entire beard area. As one whom is out on a daily basis, this tiny 0.05 ounce portion of the product usually lasts me a little over two weeks. Although both colors together are 0.1 ounces, it is only the peach toned portion of the product that's of interest to me since I do not need any color correction for red skin.

It would be nice though if this product was sold in single colors and larger amounts. I have tried another blue neutralizer made by a different cosmetics manufacturer at a lower cost and larger amount, however, my review of that particular product is by far less favorable due to the dark color which does not match my skin tone, but I will be writing about that specific product nonetheless sometime in the future.

My Makeup Routine

 My Makeup Routine

A few people asked me about which makeup products I like the best or use the most, so, I decided to write this post sharing my usual makeup routine and the makeup products I use.

After showering and shaving, I start off by applying my favorite moisturizer, St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer. . It's very important to take care of your skin, and since makeup can dry out your skin, moisturizing your skin is a MUST.

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Skin Perfecting Primer . After the moisturizer sets, I apply my favorite makeup facial primer, Hard Candy Sheer Envy Skin Perfecting Primer. Using a facial primer is a must and I really love how this primer fills in fine lines and pores, giving my face a soft and smooth finish. My second choice for primer is NYC Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer although I only buy this when I can't get to the stores that carry Hard Candy or I'm low on cash since NYC brand makeup is really cheap and it gets the job done.. .. .. .. .. .
Graftobian HD Crème Foundation Corrector 1/4oz, Soft Orange Blue Neutralizer
Paula Dorf Special CamouflageAfter the primer sets, my face is now ready to begin applying makeup, but first, I start off by covering up facial hair shadow that remains after shaving. I start off this two step process with Graftobian HD Crème Foundation Corrector, Soft Orange Blue Neutralizer since it is inexpensive, comes in 1/4 oz container which lasts a very long time since very little is required. I simply stipple it lightly onto my beard area to cover up any visible bluish silver tint from facial hair follicles.

I then follow up with stippling on my preferred blue neutralizer, Paula Dorf Special Camouflage Blue Neutralizer, which in my opinion is superbly perfect as a beard coverup that perfectly matches and blends in with my natural skin tone, but, due to its cost and its .1 oz size, I use this two step process to make my Paula Dorf Special Camouflage last longer as well as to save money. It comes with yellow concealer, however, I only need the peach colored blue neutralizer and really wish Paula Dorf sold this portion as a single product rather than a duo as it is. My face is now ready for foundation, but because each persons skin tone and color is different, as well as skin type, what I use for foundation will likely be much different than what you need, so I'm not going to cover the various foundation products I use.

Rimmel Bronzer After finishing the foundation, the next makeup product I apply to my face is a bronzer. My favorite bronzer used to be NARS Laguna, but it is too expensive for me, although I do love it and because I can not afford it on a regular basis, I switched to cheaper drug store brands such as Rimmel Natural Bronzer Sun Bronze or Wet & Wild ColorIcon, both of which are very cheap and work just as well as the NARS brand, and also seem to last much longer too. I then apply blush, which I won't get into here because the brands and colors vary and I usually just buy the cheapest ones available in either the drug store, or even at the dollar store. It works good enough.

N.Y.C Translucent Loose Face Powder
I finish my face off with a generous application of N.Y.C Translucent Loose Face Powder which blends everything and gives my face a natural looking and flawless smooth finish. It sets the makeup, making it last all day, as well as reduces shine and prevents the makeup from caking. A word of caution though when using finishing powders, do not apply too much as it will make your face look dry and aged. Now that my face is finished, I complete my makeup with eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and lipstick. I won't cover these products since the ones I use vary to a great extent and I have TONS of these, many of which I still haven't even opened or used. There is no routine when it comes to lipstick nor eye shadow since I often change colors or brand used on any given day. although my favorite color combination tends to be white or light pink on upper lid and dark brown on my lower lid.

Virgin Mobile Prepaid Mobile Broadband Internet Service

Mobile Broadband Internet Service From Virgin Mobile Prepaid Wireless Internet

Due to temporarily living in a hotel because I am homeless, I was unable to obtain my own cable or DSL internet service, so, fortunately the hotel has free wifi that I could connect to via my iPod Touch, and now my laptop, however, the hotel's internet service which comes from Hughes Net via satellite is awful because it is extremely slow and unreliable, with numerous outages and extended downtime.

Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go U600 3G / 4G USB Stick
Thank God there's a solution, and that's via Virgin Mobile Prepaid Broadband Internet using Virgin Mobile's Broadband2Go service with their U600 3G/4G USB Stick I purchased from Amazon.  Virgin Mobile's Broadband2Go Wireless Mobile Internet is a prepaid, no contract plan that offers 2gb a month on their 3G network for $35, or $55 for 5gb a month data.  Both of these plans include unlimited data via Sprint's 4G network, so, if you're located in any of the zone's within their 4g coverage area, then all you'll really need is the $35 plan, which is what I got, using a Virgin Mobile Top Up Card, however, you may choose to top up monthly via a credit card, or conveniently via PayPal.

Installation of the Franklin Wireless Modem software and drivers of the U600 USB Stick was quick and easy as the device is plug and play.  Within minutes I was ready to activate and once done, was up and running on Virgin Mobile's Broadband2Go Service using 4G at 8.72MBPS.

The 3G network is slow however, with speeds reaching a MAXIMUM of 230KBPS, and since the device is a dual mode 3G / 4G, it's great that the device includes setup options that enable me to only connect to the 4G network that gives me unlimited fast browsing for surfing the web, watching streaming video and more.

The only problem I have with the U600 3G / 4G USB Stick is that its size blocks the vacant USB port adjacent to the USB port it occupies, rendering that empty port unavailable for use for other purposes.  Although the USB device does move, it only does so up or down.

The U600 works on both PC and Mac desktops and laptops. I'm very happy about being able to blog again, as well as recording videos and uploading photos again.  I told another resident of the hotel about the Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go service and was very surprised that she didn't know about it, which made me wonder about how many others don't know about wireless mobile internet access for desktops and laptops, so, thought it was a good idea to write about it here to share with others, as well as earn a small commission from
